On the class website (http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/ear/cs378NLP) Resources page, you will find a list of NL systems that offer public demos. Some are accessible on the web. Some of the speech systems have demos that you can call on the phone.

Try at least two different systems on this list. Write up a one page list of what you tried and how well the systems performed.

As you are experimenting with these systems, try to give them problems that will help you to see what their strengths and weaknesses are. For example, when I tried the flight reservation systems, I used the two cities Austin and Boston. One system could hear the difference. The other couldn't. When I tried the speech generation systems, I gave them sentences with interesting junctures between words, such as in the phrase, "could you".
