CAM Facilities

Extensive facilities support CAM graduate study. The Kuehne Physics- Mathematics-Astronomy Library contains 37,000 physics and astronomy volumes and 30,000 mathematics volumes, the McKinney Engineering Library maintains over 150,000 volumes and the Mallet Chemistry Library is one of the most complete chemistry libraries in the Southwest.

In addition, extensive computing facilities are available in the departments that support CAM for faculty and graduate students' research. An array of computer workstations are available including IBM RS6000s, Sun SPARC workstations, Alpha workstations, DECstation 5000s, DEC VAXstations, and SGI Indigo. Access is available to an Intergraph CAD Laboratory in the Civil Engineering Department, a Sequent Symmetry 81000 with 14 processors and a 4 processor Solborne for parallel processing in the Computer Sciences Department, and an Intel iPSC/860 with 32 processors and a CRAY Y-MP8/486 at UT-Austin's Center for High Performance Computing. Supercomputers located at national research centers are easily accessed. Internet, NSFnet, CSnet, and BITNET are also readily available.
