RoboCup 2003 Simulation League Coach Competition

This is the official site of the 2003 Austin Villa Coach Competition team at the University of Texas at Austin. Here, we present our coach and coachable players used at the RoboCup competition in Padova, Italy, July 1-12, 2003.

Results
- Austin Villa won 1st place in the Coach Competition!
- Our coach was ranked 7th out of the 11 total entries after the first round.
- We moved into 1st place after the second round outperforming the other 7 remaining coaches.
- Four coaches progressed to the final round with Austin Villa coming out on top.
Coach
The Austin Villa simulated coach is an agent capable of giving RocoCup soccer agents strategic advice about general play from handcoded rules and opponent-specific advice from rules learned through observing past opponent play. It was implemented mostly from scratch. However, some of the code used to interface with the soccer server was taken from the UvA Trilearn base client. An article describing our winning approach is available here.

You can download the tarred, gzipped linux binary used in the competition here. This package includes example advice learned from examining logfiles of the Bold Hearts 2003 team (University of Hertfordshire). Note: This binary has only been tested on Debian Linux 3.0
Coachable Players
The Austin Villa coachable players are RoboCup soccer agents capable of incorporating advice given in the standardized coach language (CLang). The players are built upon the UvA Trilearn base client.

You can download the tarred, gzipped linux binary used in the competition here. The download includes a README file with an outline of supported features. Note: This binary has only been tested on Debian Linux 3.0
