RoboCup 2004 Simulation League Coach Competition

This is the official site of the 2004 Austin Villa Coach Competition team at the University of Texas at Austin. Here, we present our coach and coachable players used at the RoboCup competition in Lisbon, Portugal, June 27 - July 5, 2004.

Results
Seven coaches participated in the 2004 Coach Competition. Of the six that made it to the second round, UT Austin Villa placed fifth. The complete competition results for all three rounds can be found here.
Coach
The Austin Villa simulated coach is an agent capable of giving RocoCup soccer agents strategic advice. The coach adapts online to choose the best of a set of fixed strategies that vary in aggressiveness. The strategies include team formation advice as well as a few individual player rules. The coach implementation was done almost completely from scratch, but many ideas were taken from our 2003 entry.

Note: This binary has only been tested on Debian Linux 3.1
Coachable Players
The Austin Villa coachable players are RoboCup soccer agents capable of incorporating advice given in the standardized coach language (CLang). The players are built upon the UvA Trilearn base client. The players are quite similar to the 2003 players. The changes made for the new version were mostly bug fixes.

You can download the tarred, gzipped linux source used in the competition here. The download includes a README file with an outline of supported features. Note: This source code has only been tested on Debian Linux 3.1
