Note: This homework is being assigned on a Wednesday because of the
Labor Day holiday, but usually homework is assigned on a Monday and
due nine days later on a Wednesday -- at the beginning of class.

This assignment is based on the material from Chapters 1 and 2 of
"Computer Systems, A Programmer's Perspective, 2nd Edition" the class
textbook.  You should read Chapters 1 and 2 (except for Section 2.4)
before attempting to do the homework.

Your homework assignment is to provide solutions for Chapter 2
problems.  2.55 (only one machine), 2.56, 2.57 (only one machine),
2.58 (only one machine), 2.59, and 2.60.
