Research Goals

The integrated mining of diverse genomic data sets (DNA sequence data, mRNA expression data, proteomics mass-spectrometry data, protein interaction data, and biomedical literature) to discover biologically-relevant gene networks.
The development of novel active-learning methods that select the most informative new biological and biochemical data to collect or the most informative new experiments to conduct in order to most effectively discover new knowledge about gene networks.

The UT Biological Data Mining Research group was supported by the National Science Foundation through an Information Technology Research Grant ``Feedback from Multi-Source Data Mining to Experimentation for Gene Network Discovery,'' (IIS-0325116).
