Assignment 1 for CS 178H:
Report on Department Research

Go to the web page describing the research areas within our department. Pick an area and write a two-page report about it.

Your report should answer the following questions:

  1. Who are the faculty members working in the area?
  2. For each faculty member in the area, briefly summarize their research and list an important research paper that he or she published recently (in the past 5 years). How can you tell that the paper is important?
  3. What are the primary publication venues (journals and conferences) in this area?
  4. Do faculty members in this area tend to publish in the same or different venues? Why do you think this is the case?
  5. Are any of the faculty members in this area currently working with an undergraduate(s)? How can you tell?
Your report is due February 16.
