In addition to providing a simple computational model of the
development of many structures in the visual cortex, RF-LISSOM
exhibits tilt aftereffects that are very similar to those
measured in humans using psychophysical methods. The model is
detailed enough to support specific, testable predictions about
cortical function. The model is expected to account for a variety of
other phenomena in its current formulation. Future computational
studies may show how the model should be extended to account for other
phenomena.
