Write a short (250-500 word) essay on one of the systems of ethics discussed in class from the broad categories: duty-based, consequentialist, and virtue. Describe briefly this system's history (including citations), and its theoretical and practical applications. You may want to discuss situations in which such a system works and where it fails.
The BBC has a short introduction to the concept of ethics, and while this is a good place to start, you will need to look into other material for reference. Citations can be either MLA or APA. Note that I am less concerned about citation format and more concerned about the citation easily directing a reader to the source material. You will peer-review three other student essays as part of this assignment. Be prepared to present your essay later in the week. |
