I applied to 9 schools and UT was the only one that accepted me. Risky move on my part but I love this place (and the tuition is comparatively nice).
Because I really like puzzles and programming, even though it stresses me out.
I don't have as strong of an understanding as I'd like for OOP and I think that this class will both 1) give me a good external reason to learn faster and 2) make sure that I learn all of the essential concepts for OOP.
To form a better conceptual understanding of OOP, eg. when to use it and when not to, have a more intuitive and natural workflow when programming in OOP.
I feel a bit rusty after Winter Break, but I have a good foundation of C from my Operating Systems and Computer Architecture classes. I haven't worked with C++ yet.
They were fun! I appreciate how Dr. Downing asks a lot of questions in lecture; I feel more engaged when I get to guess the next steps.
It's a great way to keep everyone engaged! But it runs the risk of singling out people and highlighting their lack of knowledge or confidence. Dr. Downing gives encouragement regardless of whether the student answered correctly or not, but he does have a habit of interrupting students.
I had specs grading in my Operating Systems class with Dr. Norman last semester (stressful class but wonderful professor). Regardless of the grading scheme, I'll try my best on all of the assignments, but it is nice that I don't have to constantly see my grade in the class (but that we can still calculate it).
So many things made me happy! I met up with some old friends, played pool with my current close friends, ran with my running buddy, and celebrated a new friend's birthday! I didn't prioritize my time with my friends last semester, so I wanted to take advantage of my free time in the first week of school to catch up with them. I really appreciate the people in my life and I'm making it a point to become a better person for them.
