Conference Location

FMCAD 2015 will be held at the AVAYA Auditorium (2.302), POB building, on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.

Transportation

Austin is well-connected by air. The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has direct flights from many U.S. cities. There is a British Airways direct flight from London Heathrow to Austin; this is probably the most convenient way of reaching Austin from Europe.

You can get to your hotel or UT from the Austin airport by any of the following means:

• SuperShuttle: is a shared-ride ground transportation option. You can pre-book your round-trip (airport to UT and back) beforehand and save money.
• Cab: There are many cabs available for hire at the Austin airport. You can also choose to get an Uber ride.
• Rental car: Austin airport has the counters of many car rental companies located at the departures area (near the baggage claim).
• CapMetro City Bus: Bus 100 is probably the cheapest option (~$2); it runs regularly to and from the Austin airport to downtown and UT area.

Food on the UT Campus

Lunch, included in the FMCAD conference registration, is catered by O's Campus Cafe, which is located very close to the conference room.

There are a lot of other good lunch options at/near UT campus, though they are not included with the registration. Here's a list of some of those options.

Accommodation

We strongly recommend that you book your accommodation at the earliest possible. September is a busy time in Austin (ACL, UT football, etc.), and accommodations are rented out pretty early. We have made arrangements at the following two places:

• DoubleTree by Hilton: Please go to this booking site to book your hotel rooms; a block of rooms have been reserved for 27th September, 2015 to 1st October, 2015. This hotel is within walking distance of the conference venue at UT.

  The special room rate will be available until 4th September, 2015 or until the group block is sold-out, whichever comes first.

• Austin Folk House Bed and Breakfast: The rates (without taxes, etc.) are $105/night from Sunday, 27th September, 2015 to Wednesday, 30th September, 2015.

  The block will be held until 22nd August, 2015 or until it is sold-out, whichever comes first.

Reception

FMCAD'15 reception will be held at the Bismark Room of Scholz Garten on Sunday, 27th September, 2015, from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Scholz Garten is walking distance from the hotels as well as the UT campus. It is one of the oldest restaurants in Austin (established in 1866; its history is pretty interesting, if you like that sort of a thing) and offers good German fare.

Banquet

FMCAD'15 banquet will be held at the Cotillion room of Green Pastures on Tuesday, 29th September, 2015 from 7:00pm to 11:00pm.

Green Pastures is a majestic Victorian estate that epitomizes Southern hospitality. It has beautiful gardens with peacocks strolling under oak trees. It, too, has an interesting history.

Transport to/from Green Pastures via RR Limo shuttles has been arranged by us and is included in the registration fee. You can identify the shuttle by RR Limo's logo and also an FMCAD sign. The shuttle can seat 46 passengers.

Trip to Green Pastures: The pick-up location at the UT campus is the corner of W. 21st St and University Ave. (see map above). The shuttle will leave the campus at 6:30pm, drop the passengers off to Green Pastures, and then come back to W. 21st and University Ave. at around 7:00-7:15pm for a second trip.

Trip from Green Pastures: The shuttle will leave Green Pastures at 9:30pm, drop people off at the hotel, and then be back for another trip at around 10:00-10:15pm. The shuttle will stop over at 6th Street, Austin's historic street and entertainment district, before going to the final destination --- the hotel. Note that if you do choose to disembark at 6th street, you are on your own for the return journey to your hotel. However, several Austin city buses, especially the Night Owls, are available for transport. More details will be given during the conference sessions at the day of the banquet.

If you miss the shuttle on both its trips... you can always take the city bus 5 to commute to/from Green Pastures.
