2008 CRA Outstanding Undergraduate Award Winners

AUSTIN, Texas - December 7, 2007

The Computing Research Association (CRA) recognized three UTCS senior undergraduate students for their demonstrated excellence of computing research ability, academic record and service to the community. Franzi Roesner is a finalist and Gilbert Bernstein and Stephen Kent were given honorable mentions in the 2008 CRA Outstanding Undergraduate Award competition.

Franzi worked with Doug Burger and Steve Keckler on the design of a Counting Dependence Predictor, intended to work well for distributed microarchitectures.

Gilbert worked with his advisor Don Fussell to research Robust 3D Solid Modeling. Stephen Kent worked with Kathryn McKinley's group and his research focuses on Increasing Program Robustness in the Face of Runtime Exceptions.

All the students are members of the Turing Scholars Honors program, and have been engaged in K-12 outreach to increase the pipeline of CS students.
