n recognition of a generous gift from Friends of Computer Science partner Dante, Inc., room 2.210 in the Bill & Melinda Gates Computer Science complex (GDC) has been re-named the Dante Consulting Classroom.
When asked why he chose to make this gift, Dante Consulting President and CEO Pierre Malko responded "I am an alumnus of the University of Texas. I had the great honor of going to school there and received a world class education in economics and computer science. This has helped me in my career and allowed me to be very successful in what I do. I owe the University of Texas a debt of gratitude for what it has done for me personally."
Pierre is excited to see his company's name on the classroom. "The complex is beautiful. It has a lot of energy around it. And it’s the first time the department has been located in one place. It’s a great feeling to see that talent and innovation there and to have our name on that building is a source of a pride," says Pierre.
With state appropriations falling to an all-time low of 13% of the University of Texas at Austin budget in 2013-14, gifts like those from Dante, Inc. have become increasingly critical to UTCS’s ability to maintain its status as one of the nation’s top computer science programs.
