Financial Support for Academic Success

The Dijkstra Scholars Program awards $20,000 in scholarships over four years, easing financial strain for students from families earning under $60,000—representing 42% of those who struggle to maintain the GPA needed to stay in the computer science major. By alleviating financial burdens, the program enables students to focus on their studies.

Comprehensive Academic Resources

Beyond financial aid, the Dijkstra Scholars Program offers academic advising, mentorship, and peer support, creating a community where students thrive and overcome challenges together.

Addressing Critical Needs

Nearly half of students who fall below GPA requirements face unique challenges that can disrupt their academic progress. The Dijkstra Scholars Program provides targeted support to help them overcome these obstacles, improving retention and ensuring more students succeed in computer science.

At UTCS, we accept high-achieving students from across Texas. However, less than 50% of Texas high schools offer computer science courses, meaning many of our students are first-time programmers. With the dedicated support of our faculty and staff, through rigorous courses, community events, dynamic workshops, and personalized outreach, we ensure that all our students have the tools to excel academically and personally.
