Project Component

A significant component of this course corresponds to practical application of the learned concepts in the form of a project. Students will select a project topic and scope in collaboration with the course staff. The final project grade will be determined by evaluating the quality of deliverables (proposal, checkins, final report, code) as well as each student's effort. Research is an inherently non-linear and uncertain process, so we will be flexible in grading the projects. The most important criteria is maintaining a strong effort throughout the project and exhibiting high "velocity" -- trying things out, thinking critically, being creative, and executing quickly.
