The department is sad to announce that Jeff Rickel (Ph.D. '95) passed away from complications due to cancer. Bruce Porter says "He was one of the best students I've had the pleasure to work with." After graduating, he joined the excellent AI group at USC/ISI. Read More

Dr. George Kozmetsky, who died on April 30, 2003, held a courtesy appointment of Professor of Computer Sciences during his tenure as Dean of the College of Business Administration from September 1972 until August 1982. He held that departmental title until his death. He strongly influenced the development of the program of information processing in that college. Read More
