3 Format
This year, we will again host the event online. This allows us to experiment with a highly condensed format:
-
Contributed papers on BLAS, BLIS, linear algebra, or the application of BLIS-like techniques to other domains. These consist of three parts:
A pointer to a paper or video that can be as long as the author(s) want, to be posted at least 2 weeks ahead of time. This needs not be original research.
A three-minutes (length strictly enforced) video as an advertisement for the paper/video, to be posted at least 2 weeks ahead of time.
A discussion of the paper during the actual event. That discussion starts with the speaker concluding the advertisement with ONE slide. "In conclusion ...," which assumes the audience has watched at least the advertisement.
Breaking News: A discussion of current and future directions
Every participant of the retreat is expected to watch all three-minute videos prior to the event. This will then draw some people into reading/watching the longer paper or video. During the event, each contribution will be discussed for at most 10 minutes. The author gets to use only one slide that starts with "In conclusion ..." If a paper generates more interest, we will organize a meetup to discuss it at a later time.
