07/19/2013 - UTCS's AI group enjoyed considerable success at this summer's conferences.

07/03/2013 - Kristen Grauman has earned the 2013 Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence (PAMI) Young Researcher Award. The award is given to a researcher within seven years of their Ph.D.

06/25/2013 - Peter Stone has been selected for the 2013 Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award. The awards are given to faculty in the UT System " who have demonstrated extraordinary classroom performance and innovation in undergraduate instruction."

06/14/2013 - UTCS Ph.D. student Yang Wang has earned a Google Ph.D. Fellowship in Distributed Computing. He is one of 39 Google Fellows who will bring their skills and talents to Google in pursuit of more innovations and ideas that the company can incorporate in the future.

06/05/2013 - Associate Professor Yin Zhang, and his co-authors Matthew Roughan, Nick Duffield and Albert Greenberg, won the ACM SIGMETRICS Test-of-Time Award this year for their paper "Fast Accurate Computation of Large-Scale IP Traffic Matrices from Link Loads," in Proceedings of the ACM SIGMETRICS Conference, 2003.

04/30/2013 - Professor Alan Cline has been appointed to the William David Blunk Memorial Professorship for 2013-14. The Professorship, awarded by the Provost, "recognizes a member of the faculty who has demonstrated an outstanding record both in undergraduate teaching and in concern for undergraduates as demonstrated through advising and general guidance given to students."

04/19/2013 - Four graduating UTCS students have been selected Dean's Honored Graduates for 2013. Only 20 students are named Dean's Honored Graduates in the College of Natural Sciences each year.

04/09/2013 - Each year, some of the best and brightest minds in computer science flock to SXSW Interactive to give presentations, prove their skill, and show their passion for computing. This year, two teams from the Electronic Game Developers Society at the University of Texas competed and won in a SXSW Game Jam hosted by Skillpoint Alliance and sponsored by Unity3d.

04/05/2013 - UTCS alum Paul Taele has been awarded a National Science Foundation East Asia and Pacific Summer Institute (NSF EAPSI) fellowship for 2013. Paul will be carrying out research that focuses on enhancing creative computing tools for promoting better design thinking using sketch recognition techniques with Dr. Richard C. Davis at Singapore Management University in Singapore.

04/05/2013 - Associate Professor Adam Klivans has won the Teaching Excellence Award in CS from the College of Natural Sciences.
