09/16/2013 - The University of Texas at Austin Department of Computer Science (UTCS) Friends of Computer Science (FoCS) 2013 Career Brunch was held in conjunction with the College of Natural Sciences (CNS) Career Expo on September 16, 2013 at the Frank Erwin Center.

UT 3rd Best Public University in Game Design and Development

07/15/2013 - The University of Texas at Austin was recently ranked 17th in AnimationCareerReview.com's "2013 Top 50 Schools in the US for Game Design and Development." UTCS comes in 3rd among all public schools that made the list and is the only Texas university in the top 25.

Glenn Downing Spearheads Collaborative Open Source Project Course

07/09/2013 - The University of Texas at Austin Department of Computer Science (UTCS) collaborated with Facebook and 12 universities from Europe, China and the United States to provide practical, collaborative software engineering experience as part of its computer science curriculum.

Yang Wang Earns Google Ph.D. Fellowship

06/14/2013 - UTCS Ph.D. student Yang Wang has earned a Google Ph.D. Fellowship in Distributed Computing. He is one of 39 Google Fellows who will bring their skills and talents to Google in pursuit of more innovations and ideas that the company can incorporate in the future.

03/07/2013 - In a speech Wednesday to an audience of computer science students, Bill Gates, Microsoft founder and co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, offered his vision of how the computing revolution will dramatically improve human well-being in the next few decades.

GradFest Open House 2013

02/25/2013 - The department hosted prospective Ph.D. students at GradFest 2013, a two-day exploration of UTCS research, resources, and community. Over 30 admitted students attended panel discussions, toured labs, and met with faculty one-on-one. Current graduate students hosted the out-of-towners in their own homes for a real look at life as a UTCS grad student.
