10/20/2015 - The Daily Texan | by Jameson Pitts Team Gimli fuels themselves on orange soda and Einstein Bros. Bagels as they eagerly await the announcement of the secret theme at the third game jam hosted by Jolly, a local development studio. A game jam is an event during which participants must create a video game that satisfies a particular theme within a time limit. Student teams designed multiplayer video games over the course of the weekend to present at a showcase.

09/24/2012 - The University of Texas at Austin Department of Computer Science (UTCS) Friends of Computer Science (FoCS) 2012 Career Brunch was held in conjunction with the College of Natural Sciences (CNS) Career Expo on September 24, 2012 at the Frank Erwin Center.

04/30/2012 - The Friends of Computer Science (FoCS) program at UTCS is fortunate to count many companies with world-class research programs as partners. FoCS partners Google, IBM, Microsoft, Sandia National Laboratories and Yahoo! are all on the forefront of technological innovation.

03/24/2012 - Yahoo! Hack U is two days of learning, hacking and fun. Yahoo! Hack U came to UTCS March 22 & 23rd. Attendees at this year's hack heard interesting tech talks, received hacking tips and lessons, and took part in hands-on coding workshops where they worked with cutting-edge technology.

02/08/2012 - 91% of employers at the 2012 CNS Career Fair were seeking computer science students and alumni. The Career Fair also debuted "Startup Village" this year, a partnership between UTCS, UT CNS and the startup community.

01/25/2012 - The UTCS Friends of Computer Science (FoCS) program welcomes new partners: eBay/PayPal, Rackspace, Rivet Software, Tata Consultancy Services, and Union Pacific Railroad.

09/21/2011 - Two UTCS teams made it to the final round of the Yahoo! Open Hack All Stars event in New York City.

06/15/2011 - Collaborations with the Department of Computer Science have been key to the success of IBM in Austin and beyond.

03/26/2011 - PhoneSlice, a version of the popular mobile game Fruit Ninja, won Yahoo's UT-Austin Hack U contest. Farhad Abasov, Michael Teng, and Michael Akilian created a proxy server to communicate between two iPhones and the Flash application. One iPhone was used to throw the fruit and the other to slice it. Because of the implementation difficulties involved in communicating between an iPhone and Flash and all of the custom technology that they had to build within the 24-hour period, they won the HackU event and took home new iPads.
