03/07/2013 - In a speech Wednesday to an audience of computer science students, Bill Gates, Microsoft founder and co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, offered his vision of how the computing revolution will dramatically improve human well-being in the next few decades.
01/24/2013 - Farnam Jahanian, UTCS alum and leads the National Science Foundation Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE), returned to campus as a distinguished speaker. Hosted by Professor Al Mok, Farnam's Postdoc Chair, the lecture was on "Innovating for Society: Realizing the Transformative Impact of Computing and Communication."
12/19/2012 - In less than a month, the fences come down and UT Computer Science will be handed the keys to its new home—The Bill and Melinda Gates Computer Science Complex and Dell Computer Science Hall. 11/19/2012 - Mutual Mobile announced that Chief Technology Officer Mickey Ristroph has been honored by the 2012 Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) as Information Technologist and CTO of the Year.
11/08/2012 - On November 2, 2012 the Department of Computer Science hosted Craig Mundie, Microsoft's Chief Research and Strategy Officer. To a packed house of over 250, Mr. Mundie used the latest Microsoft products to demonstrate the exciting ways computing is extending human capabilities, and enabling us to better understand and improve our world.

06/15/2012 - Don Fussell, Calvin Lin, 2010 UTCS Ph.D. graduate Paul Navratil, and Hank Childs of University of California, Davis won the Best Paper Award at the 12th Eurographics Symposium on Parallel Graphics and Visualization.
06/14/2012 - UTCS alum Arvind Narayanan, who completed his Ph.D. in 2009, will be starting in the fall at Princeton as a tenure-track assistant professor.
